After 40 years we finally perfected the cabin, since 1976 we been building hundreds, first 10 years taught us some important lessons in Design, Costs of Construction. at 20 years we seen ways to save because of weather conditions, labor costs problems, inherent design to mountainous homes, then at 30 years again we re examined Mistakes by customer, builders, free, ell advise information from family, friends, handy men!, that free advice is worth what you paid for it!, we allowed it outa courtesy, it proved costly, to the budget, wastefully and done wrong. now with only 40 years of experience... Were learning again...by the Millennium I may have it figured out.
“Medium Class Living” has declined, young families haven't a chance like years ago. Life changed things, energy costs, fossil fuels, politics, permits. fees, legal costs, gas prices aren't going down. Property tax is going no ware but up. Yester year mind think was, build “ Like a Rock Star” large spacious floor plans, tall costly ceilings, massive cold windows, install a warehouse size furnace in homes like you live in past ...bend over and pay high taxes, huge power, heating, bills , maintenance, security, cost the cost of the mortgage, ...and my personal pet peeve...industrial floor plans that have more halls, dance areas, walk ways wasting useable space that has to be heated and cleaned and maintained at the cost of loosing your living space .
Then there's the labor to build these. Fortunes spent for General Contractors, sub contractors, carpenters, labors, plumber, ect is half the cost of building. and half that is profit to the supervisors, kick backs to hidden agents, brokers of labors that never set foot on, or drive a nail on your site... So ponder, think smart! Lets rethink Housing. Consider DO-IT-YOURSELF FRENDLY designs So we don't share all out trade secretes but you see why “the best man for the job is the busiest man in town” ...”there's no substitute for experience” We came up with this new Plan, the Mountain Cabin ... many options available ? |
